There is an important deadline for those who have served in the military and have an illness — Aug. 9 — and you may be eligible for benefits even if you were denied them in the past.

Maj Kim Patterson There shouldn't be a deadline. Maybe all the symptoms haven't' shown up yet.

This is where they have drawn the line for now. Hopefully it’ll be easier down the road. It amounts to big $$, They want to know what they are looking at now so they can budget medical care and dollars.

Maj Kim Patterson my problem is I have every symptom of parkinsons disease. Yet the VA wants to give diagnoses that are not parkinsons. I went to an outside doctor who said parkinsons yet the VA won't. No lawyer will take my case and everyday I get 20 plus calls from a call center that don't speak English about Camp Lejune. So if I have it and the VA refuses to diagnose until after the deadline I just get screwed all over again.
