Puerto Rico National Guard soldier dies trying to save man drowning near beach

I teach my kids and grand kids “ Reach, Throw, go” Can you reach to them with something? Can you throw a flotation device? If no to first two Go for help. If you think you can help by swimming to them take something to reach them with or give them to help float. Often times people panic in drowning situations and all you will do is get yourself drowned along with the person you are trying to help. Where ever you swim look for safety devices.

I've met a number of these PR National Guard folks (as well as reservists) when doing Red Cross work in PR. Good people...this is a shame. RIP and thank you. Prayers for your family and friends
