With former White House physician Ronny Jackson out of the running for VA Secretary, who do you see fit to run the department?

I would like to see the job offered to Colin Powell. I think he has the chops to pull it off.......although I'm not sure he would accept the offer.

Personally, I would add another Doctor for whom I just worked with...
Doctor Jeffrey Runge. He was the first DHS Chief Medical when Home Security was first formed under the Bush Administration... He has balls, he has clout and knows his shit as a top ER Doctor still on Staff here at UNC! Knows the DC politics. Shame no one tossed his name in the hat!

What about Peter O’Rourke the current acting Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

I'm not laughing. I don't think he would be a bad choice, except I'm not sure he understands the culture, and he's never served (do you think that matters? I haven't been impressed with Ben Carson's leadership where he is. But I do think George Bush would do a great job, even though he probably would not want it. One of the best leaders I ever worked with was GEN Odierno (Ret). I'd like to see him try it.

I would go with Dr. Carson. But I would like someone in that position that has military experience, one who knows Veterans.

PO3 Bob McCord - Carson is doing a good job destroying HUD, that is what he was hired to do, The VA really does not need to be destroyed, just repaired

It us obvius that he was hired to destroy HUD just as the swamp dweller who is running the EPA is doing there.

Veterans and veteran organizations should have greater input in the selection process. As we have seen in the past politics and politicians have a knack for screwing things up in their appointments. A non-politician, veteran, medical practiomer, business executive or any combination thereof would be preferable.

I don't think it makes sense to laterally move somebody currently serving in the government or promote from within the VA Amvets American Veterans.
The VA needs new leadership with senior leadership experience. While I would prefer somebody with medical doctor experience as well as leadership, I think leadership makes sense as the primary qualification
I would vote for Michael Linnington who serves as chief executive officer of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP). Prior to joining WWP, Michael was the first permanent Director of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), following his retirement as a Lieutenant General from the U.S. Army. He is a friend and classmate of mine from USMA, West Point class of 1980.
Thanks for mentioning me COL Mikel J. Burroughs

We've tried the retired senior officers, politically connected sycophants, former CEOs, and influential citizens. All have failed miserably due to the outdated bloated bureaucracy that the VA has become. How about we put some former platoon sergeant in as Director and empower him/her to make the necessary changes up to and including firing deadbeats who are not performing up to standards?

It doesn't matter. So long as members of Congress in these ridiculous hearings can MSU without consequences. The guy was good enough to be President Obama's Physician, who President Obama sang high praises about, all of a sudden is a bad pick because President Trump nominated him.

Also, that does not address the literally fake DUI crash a GSA accusation leveled at him by a member of that committee.

PO3 Bob McCord - My bottom line is I find it so repugnant that SOBs can malign the character and name with outright lies and there are no repercussions that Reid or Tester have made. I would have hoped that there was an Ethics committe that would call them on it but again, I suppose that's akin to raising a complaint to the Virtue Committee at the Mustang Ranch.

MSG Michael Davis, this guy started out under the Bush administration, so it was the Chairman that look at and went to the WH to get withdraw his name, because someone from the WH, started leaking information and others. We all went to a party after work or work related and bump a car. They didnt car it was a hit in run, DUI, DWI where the police or report was done.

As long as they can find someone that can handle the job permanently, that isn't brain dead.

Really the VA needs to be broken down and rebuilt. It has failed to many for to long.
