Many of us have one thing that really gets to us. I have to say that probably my biggest pet peeve (as it pertains to the military) are ill fitted ACU tops. I constantly find myself explaining to people how their uniform should fit.

What is your pet peeve?

YES!!! @paula rojas I had to mention that to a SNCO just yesterday. He replied with, "...so they don't fall." I said roger, sergeant and walked away. However, he honored the correction. And I highly respect when you or someone can recognize when they are wrong and not let pride get in the way. Just correct it. I also believe that 90% of an impasse like that depends on how the correction is initiated.

I completely agree! I am not one to shy away from a correction no matter what the rank. It is completely dependent upon your approach. I know I'm not perfect and I love when people correct me. It lets me know there is at least one other person that still cares and has pride in our uniform!

The rules are the rules, and I follow them and enforce them as required - but it's one of the more ridiculous rules we have in the military.

When I was on active duty the only required accessory to the Chief's uniform was a coffee cup. And God help you if you thought you were doing him a favor by cleaning it out.

LCDR, you could always "rim" the Chief's coffee cup! I "may" have done that a time or 2 as a disgruntled Deck Seaman...

I have a question. Was there a rule that prohibited me from using the hood on my bdu field jacket?
I found it the other day, and I guess I must of mentally blocked the fact that the hood existed because I noticed the zipper on the collar. Ta da! A perfectly fine hood. Sixteen shades lighter than the rest of the jacket.

If I remember correctly it was only a by unit thing that prevented us from utilizing the hood, never could understand that in the pre-Gortex days, especially if you didn't have wet weather gear and a sudden rain storm hit, had to walk around with a soaked PC for the rest of the day rather than utilize the hood in the field jacket.

My biggest irk was not being in control of the uniform. I didn't like not being able to a jacket because someone else wasn't cold or not strip down to shorts because the decision maker wasn't hot

Agree with SFC Campoverde. A lot of the double standards depends on who is friends with who. My time in the 82nd one standard would be barked at the company but it only applied to only about half.
