So..."actress" Kristen Stewart has acted in a DetOps-related movie in which she plays an MP. This I didn't know, and I really wish it wasn't true. Apparently acting in said movie has made her feel qualified to speak out on the GWOT, DetOps as related to places like GitMo, and the military in general.
Your thoughts, Rallypoint?

She claims it was about the characters in her movie. When she learns to do anything except waste oxygen I will think about the things she says.

Oh about the same way I felt about Tom Cruz's. This false portrayal of knowledge because you ACTED like a soldier. It also sounds treasonous to me, but unfortunately, in this case and like all the others who bad mouth us veterans, she has the freedom to sound as ignorant as she wants.

She's an actress who's only military experience is whatever rubbish her first time director gave her to prepare for the film. She is in no position to be making comments regarding military life unless she wants to put forth the effort to live it, which I hope for the sake of the military never happens.

Either way, the damage is done.
Who here has ever heard the story that "Hanoi Jane" betrayed POWs in an NVA prison camp by giving the commandant messages that they had "palmed" to her in handshakes?
Not true. Granted she was not supporting the troops by being all buddy buddy with the VC and NVA, but she never actually did this.
Similar to Jane Fonda, the comments Stewart made about being sympathetic to detained terrorists and disparaging the military were taken out of context, but what is the average Joe of this era gonna remember, the context or the comments?

Very true and I know I am being idealistic about this but I like to tell myself the joes on this web site can rise above this kinda do stuff I take negative comments about the military very serious and I just despise when people are misquoted or what not just to get a rise out of us.

SGT Chestney,
I just want to say thank you for your comment (I am not being sarcastic) but I think you misunderstood my comment I was cutting her any slack and I do not agree with what she was saying all I was trying to do was get people to discuss the actul comments in the proper context. Thats it I do not belive any one actuly takes her serious but if we are going to discuss it lets do it right. so you ccomment to me completely relivant and properly addressed so thank you just encourage others to do the same that is all I was asking and if we can not do that then lets not discuss it at all.

Yea, well, it appears she's explaining her character's view of things; not necessarily her own beliefs. But having said that, here's what I generally think about the intelligence of actors: You put a quarter in the cup and watch the monkey dance. There are exceptions to the rule, but not many.

First thing that movie was an embarrassment and out right disrespectful. And she should be ashamed of her actions. She was in the movie falling in love with a detainee. The movie was horrible don't even waste your time watching it. Because the plot shows her lover gathering things to make IED's then he's in GTMO and that's who she falls for and now she's saying they're miss understood. She must want a cocktail.

If I cared what every celebrity said or thought about the military I'd have more nightmares than I do already. 1 - Kristen Stewart's hot. 2 - Unless she has a DD214 I don't care what she thinks. 3 - the trailer looks good.

I'm sure if Hollywood wanted they could find veterans to act in military films. There are plenty on veterans that are gentle on the eyes for the big screen.

Who is Kristen Stewart? And why does anything this person have to say mean anything at all to me? Approvingly or derogatory.
You must respect someone before you can be uplifted or hurt by their words. And before you can respect someone, you would have to know they existed.
This Kristen Stewart person is irrelevant in my life....thus so are her words.
