So..."actress" Kristen Stewart has acted in a DetOps-related movie in which she plays an MP. This I didn't know, and I really wish it wasn't true. Apparently acting in said movie has made her feel qualified to speak out on the GWOT, DetOps as related to places like GitMo, and the military in general.

Your thoughts, Rallypoint?

Another Hollywood celebutard that owes a tree somewhere an apology for working hard to produce oxygen she is simply wasting.

She and her ilk wouldn't last a day in a strict islamic culture run by the likes of the jihadists she thinks are being wronged at x-ray. A mental lightweight with no moral compass or awareness of what these people are all about.

Good ole Hollywood always thinking just because they act on a freakin stage with dummy rounds, fake weapons and the enemy... Well there just extras trying to get paid. None of these Hollywood fucktards have known anything about combat since the military stopped drafting actors and sports figures.

Read up on this before I posted any type of response. Turns out that her words were taken out of context. Snopes verifies that:

Like most thinks that sound radical, it normally is.

Yes, because Snopes has no political slant whatsoever. :/

Whether her words were in the correct context or not, the damage is done.

I'm sure Jane Fonda's comments during Vietnam were occasionally taken out of context, but look at how she's seen by Vietnam veterans.

Kristen Stewart is an actress. She is literally paid to pretend to be another person, and speak other peoples words. I'm not trying to make this an ad hominen attack, but she didn't make the movie. She played dress up in several scenes, which were then pieced together in a different order than she shot them. She never dealt with anyone from the military, other than perhaps a technical adviser. She didn't deal with any detainees or prisoners. She dealt with other actors who looked "dangerous" and could be through the willful suspension of disbelief thought of as terrorists, or "victims of the system" for 90 minutes to convince whoever is willing to spend $15 plus popcorn on what tripe the director produced.

What do you think of Kristen Stewart's comments on the military?

When you actually read what she was "quoted" as saying. It was about the character she was portraying and not the a blanket statement about the military.

All movies are messages/speech, one of the things we signed up to protect even the messages we don't like. Luckily we have the freedom to ignore the message if we don't like it.
In my case, I'd rather take advice on national policy from my seven year old then from anyone in Hollywood and I'd rather watch a two hour loop of some strangers kids than a movie with Stewart.

Did anybody else even read the quote? She described her character as it was written, including the internal turmoil written for that same character.

I think a lot of service members need to wake up and realize we're not special snowflakes who are above criticism, or in any way better or smarter than our civilian counterparts, and learn to stop getting offended by the smallest of things. This is a complete non-issue, and anybody getting overly distraught about it is lacking reading comprehension skills, or is completely maladaptive when concerning reality.

My take on it is that your personal morals and integrity should be your guide in carrying out any order you ever receive; the Nuremberg Trials made that clear for anyone who is willing to blindly follow. As long as your conscience is clear, you've got nothing to apologize for because you're doing the bidding of our civilian bosses. That's why when they criticize us, they're criticizing themselves. Also, it means that any order you executed was done of your own free will, and you have to accept any blowback from uneducated people. It's not our right to question their criticisms, but it's our duty to question all orders. I agree with what you're saying, and I think we're of a similar mindset, but that I'm not presenting my point very well and I introduced a personal pet peeve that is only slightly relevant.

I found the article from which Breitbart comments. Her statements come across fairly uncontroversial.

Media hacks simply know that by saying she "trashes the military" they're going to get automatic clicks and support. Nothing but clickbait drivel. She didn't say anything heinous.

She isn't what you would call "attractive" and doesn't have the ability to convey any emotion... while I defend to the death her right to feel/say whatever she wants, until she can show me she has more ability to act than I have skill as a medical professional... sorry, she is wrong

I have a new role for how about a secret mission to Northern Iraq or Syria so she witness first hand what terrorism is about.

Sell her to ISIS. We won't miss out on her acting abilities and she can "study" for Camp X-Ray 2.
