TITLE: Manager - Speakers & Programs
LOCATION: Colorado Springs, Colorado
REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President - Strategic & International Affairs


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager - Speakers & Programs works with the Senior Vice President - Strategic & International Affairs to develop the program agenda for Space Foundation events, particularly the annual Space Symposium, including the objectives of each speaking engagement. The Manager - Speakers & Programs understands the organization's mission and the importance of delivering mission-relevant, customer-focused content. The Manager - Speakers & Programs supports the SVP - Strategic & International Affairs by researching, pursuing and scheduling speakers and panelists, and planning and coordinating the program and agenda for Space Symposium and the events it encompasses, including, but not limited to, classified session(s), Technical Track and New Generation activities. The Manager - Speakers & Programs works with the speaker(s) and panelist(s) as needed to procure outlines and other presentation materials appropriate to the program agenda.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following briefly describes representative responsibilities of this job, but it is not intended to be a complete or all-inclusive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of this position.
• Develop a time line for the annual cycle of speaker procurement for each Space Foundation event;
• Research and select speaker candidates appropriate to program agenda;
• Conduct periodic status meetings with SVP, speaker support coordinator, and other team members as needed;
• Supervise speaker support coordinator, and provide guidance in developing tracking mechanisms and effective processes for speakers as they are invited, confirmed, registered, posted to the website, and as their travel is booked;
• Monitor and document speaker invitation process, as well as follow-up/thank-you process;
• Demonstrate awareness of event goals and objectives;
• Utilize available resources and websites in an efficient way to help enhance the program;
• Network with other organizations to share information and to gain knowledge that would help improve the program;
• Communicate across and network with the Space Foundation team to ensure full understanding of the program and to enhance marketing, corporate services, customer service and other efforts; and
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following briefly describes knowledge, skills, abilities and characteristics associated with this position, including any required experience, education, licensure, certification, or combination thereof.
∼ Familiarity with the space industry and knowledge of industry terminology is desired.
∼ Good problem solving skills, ability to be resourceful and take the initiative when needed.
∼ Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
∼ Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills; experience speaking and writing with tact, diplomacy and/or authority.
∼ Familiarity with conducting web research.
∼ Experience communicating with, and coordinating the schedules and activities of, high-profile executives and officials, to include international participants.
∼ Ability to work independently, maintain organization and work-flow, and consistently meet deadlines while working on several projects.
∼ Composed and courteous under pressure, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
∼ Keen focus on customer service and meeting deadlines.
