With all of the uniform changes and updates should it be time that we also change the headgear for the ASU uniform? I've never been a big fan of the beret and the current ASU headgear for males makes us look like fancy bus drivers. The headgear worn by the Tomb Sentinels of the Old Guard looks way better. I think that it's time that the entire Army stopped wearing berets and leave them for SF, Airborne, and Ranger Regiment like it used to be.

I've never been a fan of Army dress head gear. Though the overseas cap (if we had to choose an existing one) would be preferable over the "bus driver" and the "berry". I agree with SGT Ben Keen, the beret stunk because too many people couldn't wear it right. I like the look of the Old Guard cap - smaller top, more streamlined, though I can't vouch for the comfort factor.

That privately made CD about the Old Guard gives the impression that their uniforms are “off the rack”, but cleaned up and massaged to look better.

This debate has been none stop since the beret was announced in the early 2000. While I'm not a fan of it because many Army Soldiers don't take the time to learn how to shape and maintain it, going to the hat worn by the Old Guard may be more costly and if you never worn one will be very uncomfortable the first few times you wear it.

SGT Keen, I agree. I'm not saying that we should use that particular headgear from the Old Guard, but something smaller/different would be great.
