SPC Ellerbeck, when you re classed were you sent to FT. Gordon? I ask because I'm re classing to 25b but they are sending me to Sacramento,CA for training.
Do you know if there are any difference between the two?

It's the same training but at an accelerated pace if your going to California. On AKO you have the e-Learning portal, use it. There a plethora of courses that can prepare you for certification tests. Fed TA can help with reimbursement of the test fees but talk to your education counselor.
A+, N+, Security +, there's even Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) courses too, MCITP, MCSE, SQL server, Sharepoint it should be on there. Learn everything you can. There's free ebooks out there on some of these areas, just got a to do a little searching.

SSG Garza - thanks for info SSG. That will help out a lot.
SPC Ellerbeck - yeah I didn't know about it with and that's why I was confused. Good luck man at FT. Gordon and maybe I'll see you around in the future.

A lot has changed when I went to Ft Gordon in 2002 SPC (Join to see). We lost an average of 3 per class due to failing testing/retesting. Just take a lot of notes and pay attention, you should do fine.
When I went there, I already has a background in C, C+, C++, Fortran, Cobol, Dbase, SQL/ PL/SL Informix and quite a few other programming & structured query language.
Don't be intimated, just go in there an own it. trust me you will be studying a lot.

I just left Fort Gordon not long ago as a 25b. As a reclass, you will become an mos t soldier, and will be separate from all the other mos i soldiers. As you go through the course, you get the chance to get a free voucher for the A+, net +, security +, CCNA certifications, and some windows certs. Take advantage of them, as a 25b you need these certs and will most likely have to get them at another point in your career anyways.

Security+, Net+ CCNA are all good certificates to start studying for. Since you are a specialist and prior service you will most likely be separated from the IET soldiers. This link may also be of assistance to you. http://www.army-portal.com/jobs/signal/25b.html

Information Technology Specialist (MOS 25B) duty description, required ASVAB score and security clearance, physical requirements, and available enlistment bonus are provided.

A good move would be to see if your current CoC would allow you to attach to your S-6.

SGT (Join to see) - If you know you are transitioning to 25B, your S-6 (commo section) will be the best place to get on the job training before you go to school. It's the most likely place for you to work after you come out of school.
