President Obama attacked Donald Trump in his address to the Canadian Parliament on Wednesday, breaking the unwritten rule of American politics that it ends at the water's edge. This is the second time he has done so in just two months, as he recently ripped into Trump while in Japan. Is this inappropriate, or is this custom of decorum outdated?

Obama has no "decorum."
He is a scorched earth campaigner.
Expect everything during this campaign.

1LT (Join to see) - George W. Bush has never publicly responded to the scathing criticism of President Obama or his administrators, who have never stopped blaming President Bush for the shortfalls of the Obama administration. I believe that has to do with a certain level of class.

That had nothing to decorum. He is just that type of person. Even now George W Bush doesn't respond to attacks from anyone. So that tells you this is the type person he is. Donald Trump is a different animal that has to be dealt with unconventionally.

1LT (Join to see) - Trump used his name when he criticized him. Obama acts like he's playing 20 Questions when he doesn't say who he is criticizing.
So childish and to be expected from someone who doesn't realize he's more of a narcissist than the man he criticized.

Absolutely nothing this man says surprises me. His priorities while the world is aflame amaze me.

Trump has the Democrat target on his back he will be mentioned any time anyone of relative importance from the Democrat Party speaks. When you mention him 23 times in the faux Democrat Banghazi report, and he had nothing to do with politics at the time of the tragedy brought on by incompetence of the administration, the story and narrative is plain to see. Politics over real life issues.

I made a similar comment a few days ago regarding tying him to the negativity of the Benghazi Report.......PSYOP!

From the Toronto Star:
"Obama easily wooed his Canadian audience. But as he prepares to become more involved in the U.S. presidential race, it appears much of it was aimed at Americans, too.
Obama never once uttered Donald Trump’s name. But on trade, immigration, global commerce, international co-operation the U.S. president gutted the controversial positions advocated by the presumptive Republican presidential candidate.
“There are those who offer a politics of us versus them, a politics that scapegoats others — the immigrant, the refugee, someone who seems different than us,” Obama said.
“We have to call this mentality what it is — a threat to the values that we profess, the values that we seek to defend,” said Obama, who will make his first campaign appearance with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday."

Looks like he went after policy proposals; skated next to the line but didn't quite cross it.

Barack Obama brings down the House with final act in Canada | Toronto Star
Obama turned in a memorable performance Wednesday that had politicians and dignitaries packed into a sweltering House of Commons repeatedly rising to their feet for standing ovations.

Well I guess we know who "not" to ask for help in anything that happens now, those to our North! This is the third time....He tried to interject his opinion on the state of Isreal when Netanyahu was running (So none of his business) Now he is M/F ing Trump, while supporting Hillary. TOTAL CLASSLESS ACT HE IS on a daily basis.

The Canadian politicians were no better. If you saw the video, as Obama entered Parliament's chambers they were chanting "Four more years" to him.
I fear that there is contingent of citizens in this country with the same sentiments who are blinded to all his totalitarian actions and would give him tenure for life.

Our current president seems more incline to bitch moan and groan about things and less about how to compromise and get something accomplished.

President Obama has never been bound by more traditional views of "classy" conduct. From little things like chewing gum at state events, to weird internet video interviews, to openly criticizing a SCOTUS decision during a State of the Union Address, to commenting on local controversies (Henry Gates arrest), he has diminished the stateliness of the office.

No Way No How not even close!!
Obama never mentioned Trump's name & that's a fact, Jack... Our President and Commander in Chief would never think of doing anything that has a hint of being inappropriate behavior. And you can take that to the bank..

Huh...it's kinda like how Trump never mentioned deporting Mexicans but deporting all ILLEGAL aliens that come from all over the world. But yea, he's still called racist. Take a stroll down to the border and you will see illegal aliens from different countries from different continents walk into the US. But oh yeah, Trump is still the racist, right?

CSM David Heidke - Are you saying that the president cannot criticize an American citizen while overseas.? Donald Trump is not an official in the US government. He's just a citizen. Plus the president never said his name.

The President shouldn't avoid speaking on policy, all he should avoid talking about are political candidates. My understanding is that the President didn't actually mention Trump at all, he simply criticized policies Trump has endorsed and supported.
