Castro famously proclaimed "History will absolve me". It appears that he's still waiting for absolution and won't accept a mere "parole" from President Obama (nor any other President). He wants US to admit full culpability and make full reparations. Sadly, the story isn't as simple as he would portray it. There is far more blood on his hands than ours.

Perhaps if he sent our "special" diplomatic weapon, "James Taylor" to sing "You've Got A Friend" the Castro brothers would sense that we are sympatico now.

Fidel just doesn't want anybody oppressing Cubans, (except himself).

Why don't we send the Canadian SF Teams called Nickelback and Bieber down there to smooth relations? Equip them with Syrup and Hockey Equipment with express orders not to return without Castro becoming a Mapleleafs fan?

Again I think the overly optimistic POTUS is unwilling to accept the realities of the political dynamics. Showing up and saying -"You had slaves, we had slaves - me casa, su casa bro" is not going to fix of change their communist ways. I doubt Obama will see this as his foreign policy getting a middle finger salute. More than likely he will some how blame America for the cold shoulder. It takes two to tango and Cuba's choices have been and are part of the problem not the solution.

SFC David Stephenson, you make some valid points. Castro doesn't want a relationship with the U.S. He prefers to maintain control over the citizens of Cuba!
