I've been in one of the Guard SFABs since they started. The unit selection process is really up to the individual battalions. We do a APFT, 6mi ruck, team exercises, and a board. There is then the formal 3-day selection course at Bragg. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

CPT (Join to see) what is the training schedule like the first year? I wanna consider this, but I have a pretty involved civilian job and don't want to commit to both, if I can not do it. Typical MUTA? How many schools?

It's basically the same as any NG unit as far as training schedule goes. The main thing that would consume your time is going to Combat Advisor Training Course (CATC) which is 28-days long. Early on, they used the promise of schools and deployments to get people to transfer over... neither of which materialized. So, if you are looking to get schools, training, or deployments that aren't normally available in the NG, going to an SFAB is probably not the right choice. Many of the people that initially transferred in for these opportunities have realized they were empty promises and have since transferred out. The best advice I can give you is to only transfer to an SFAB if you want to someday train foreign security forces. If you come for schools, TDYs, or a deployment, you will likely end up disappointed and resentful.
