Islamic opening prayer to Allah in the House of Reps, how much more of this can we stomach?

Many of you seem to be oblivious to situations around our great nation. Christianity is being shunned and Islam is being placed on a pedestal as a religion which is untouchable. Having a Christian before any government paid operation people will have a cow and trust me, they will complain. Have a Islamic prayer and some of you applaud while we can't have a Christian prayer.

SSG,
You are aware they say Christian prayers as well right? Religion is being shunned across the board. This happens in cycles and if you look back at US history you will see religions grow and decline. They say prayers before town meetings and I don't see a big outcry.

PV2 Scott Goodpasture While we a re a Christian Nation, we were founded on religious freedom and freedom from the oppression of the British Crown. Perhaps the content of the prayer justifies the allowance of the prayer, but as long as we are free, why disavow this act? This is not an act by an extremist and is not intended as disrespect. I know this attitude will not set well with some, but think about before you vote me down. When we deny religious freedom, even in our Congress, when does the reduction of freedom stop? I wore a uniform in service of our country for 23 years and nothing in my life has meant more. I wore that uniform to protect the rights of all citizens to protest even me as a Soldier and Marine. If we protect one freedom, we should protect them all?

No, the picture didn't offend me. In some countries, men greet each other with a kiss.

SGT (Join to see), the picture is a fake. He did do the cheek kiss thing, but the one you posted has been doctors, but I'm sure you knew that.

I do not agree with Islamic prayers held in the House of Reps. or any other U.S. government agencies.

Sir , I do not want my tax dollars to be used in giving some muslim the opportunity to pray to allah. I want my tax dollars to be used effectively to be productive for the US House of Representatives, not some damn allah.

Sir, I cannot speak for any book outside of the KJV with Apocrypha. I know nothing of the Latter Day Saints.
As for the two versions of creation in Genesis they are one in the same. Genesis 1:1 - 2:3 is giving a basic view while Genesis 2:4-25 gives more detail as to the creation.
As for a third; I have not read anywhere about the third you speak of.

Actually the original text for "thou shalt not kill" would be translated "thou shalt not commit murder".
If killing were a sin then killing of any kind to include animals would be a sin. Also, the MOST HIGH set up places for those that accidentally killed his neighbor could run to as a refuge for a season and not be condemned. However, if you murdered someone those places were not available as a refuge.
So, there is a distinction between "thou shall not kill" and "thou shall not commit murder".

LT Charles Baird - Lieutenant; Not quite. The version in Genesis 1 had "Adam" created third and the version in Genesis has "Adam" created first.
SSG Michael Scott - Staff; Unfortunately you appear to be reading the Billy Bob Down Home Real True Four Square Original Actual God's Gospel and Auto Body Shop version since the Qu'ran does NOT command Muslims to "kill the Christians and Jews". Admittedly the Qu'ran DOES instruct Muslims to attack back when attacked. The longest period where Jews in Europe were free from persecution was when the Muslims ruled Spain - Christians were also not persecuted in Muslim Spain.
PS - The punishment proscribed is still in the Torah. Does that mean that you consider Jews to be condemnable?
PPS - What is the punishment proscribed for breaching any of the ten commandments?

What is so confusing about the government not endorsing or condemning any religion? If they are going to have some sort of prayer, it needs to be all inclusive. Like it or not we live in a diverse nation with a wide array of religious beliefs. We need to be respectful of that. There is a difference between someone who is religious and a terrorist acting on a twisted interpretation of religion.

October 1, 2003:
Respected Congressmen and Women, I would like to greet you with the greeting of Islam. Peace be with you in the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
Glory be to Allah, the Lord of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. As we commence our legislative day in this 108th Congress, we ask You to bestow Your blessing upon us and help our legislators enact that which pleases You and ensures the interest of our people. Lend Your infinite wisdom to this Congress and allow them to embrace what is right, not what is popular.
As our Nation faces many challenges, we beseech Your guidance. And as we pursue those who intend harm to our country, let us seek justice rather than revenge. Guide our leaders to use the influence of their power as an instrument for the betterment of all humankind and peace throughout the world.
Oh, Allah, endow the people of this great land with a growing trust in one another and an increasing faith in You. Help us all uphold our God–given rights of freedom and equality. Allow us never to evoke Your law by embracing color or creed as tools for superiority. As You say in the Holy Koran, ‘‘Oh people, We had created you from one male and one female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another. Verily, the best amongst you are those who are the most pious.''
Amen.

I don't care one way or the other; I haven't much faith or respect left for our government which is quickly becoming a circus, but isn't this a violation of the separation of church and state?

I have read and replied to a few posts on this thread and will not apologize for my harsh criticisms or tone. And to answer this question No, I have no issue with this at all, none. I fully support the prayer in the House chamber.

No group of people needs help more than the US Congress so I say let them pray, pray twice a day.
As for the religiously intolerant, islamaphobes and separation of church and state folks, well you can always create a caliphate with those who think like you do, destroy the symbols and places of worship of those you disagree with and use your religious beliefs to enslave others. If your not sure how call ISIS, I'm sure they have a manual you can use.

Until you stand at the edge of a mass grave, until you small the decay, until you feel the tears on your face you know nothing of which you speak. Your post is religious intolerant and divisive. It is comments like yours that lead to the genocide of a people. You are the beginning of the cycle of hate. So you settle down.

SFC Matthew Parker - Sergeant; Would that have been a mass grave created by the (Orthodox Christian) Serbs or a mass grave created by the (Roman Catholic) Croats or a mass grave created by the (Protestant/Catholic/Agnostic) Germans or a mass grave created by the (Russian Orthodox/Atheist) Russians or a mass grave created by the (Roman Catholic) Mexicans or a mass grave created by the (Protestant) Americans?
NO religion has the sole ownership of "mass graves".
PS - Exactly how many bodies do you require before you class one as a "mass grave"?

Good evening Sir,
That would be the Orthodox Christian Serbs outside Zvornik, of course this was the same ones who also burned the mosques and raped Muslim woman before they dropped them into the river to be ground up in the dam turbines. So many woman that it blocked the vents and caused the electrical system to burn out.
Now the Roman Catholic Mexicans you refer to that behead, rape, kill children and woman and burn churches I assume are the drug cartel soldiers. But I'm sure the PV2 and MSG will take issue with that as they are criminals and not terrorists.
The Protestant/Catholic/Agnostic Germans can't be counted of course, they simply killed unarmed American pows, fellow Germans and I heard something about them killing 6 million Jews. But that may be ok with the PV2 and MSG as European Jews aren't American Christians which seems to be their main concern.
I don't know the Protestant Americans of which you speak, but of course Americans would never be part of a massacre like say Wounded Knee when American soldiers cut down Indians in the hundreds.
The UN team investigating the site says there were 100+ bodies. I have no criteria myself, more than one person killed is one to many for me.
