Is there any one that has been or is currently stationed at Macdill - JCSE? How do I submit a packet? How are the deployments now? How is the area? Are you there long enough to enjoy it, or are you constantly in the field or deployed?

Never been stationed there, but I'm from the Tampa Bay area. Tampa is an awesome town with lots to do, particularly I you are into water sports. The neighborhood immediately outside of the gates are a strange mix. Go out the Bayshore gate, which runs along the inner by, and you head into the Palma Ciea/SoHo (South Howard) neighborhoods which are the "old rich" parts of town. Go out the Dale Mabrey gate (main gate) and you see the more typical run down "base town", although most of it is being reclaimed through urban renewal. The only real bad part of Macdill is ironically the location. It's located on the southern-most tip of the peninsula that forms the western portion of the inner Tampa Bay, so there are only a couple of roads that run to it, so getting through traffic to post can be a pain.
