Does anyone know anything about Combat Related Special Compensation (CRSC) and reserve retirement?

Reason I am asking is I am 100% VA disability with aReserve retirement, four years active and 22 Reserves. I have a 50% disability rating from the VA for PTSD, combat related. Not sure what it would do for me and whether it is worth applying for. Thanks for any input.

I don't know about reserve retirement but the "golden rule" is to always apply for everything. But there are several FB groups for this thing (veteran benefits) and they are run by some incredibly smart people. Let me know if you need the group names (but I'm sure a simple search will work). You should post this question in there as well.

This is the DOD order on it. It basically says if you're drawing retired pay and otherwise qualify, then you get it. I'm not a reservist, but you guys don't get to draw retirement to 62 or so, right?
I just started getting mine today so it is great if and when you qualify.

Oh yes it will if you get it. Definitely do it. CRSC gives you back whatever pay you are having taken out of your retirement pay to get your VA disability pay. What ever portion of your VA pay is from a combat related cause is also paid to you from your service branch. Say you get $500 VA total (-500 from retirement) with $300 combat related causes. CRSC puts that $300 back into your Ret pay and you still get the full VA pay you've been getting. Plus CRSC & VA pay aren't taxed.
It's called concurrent receipt, but that implies your getting the same thing twice. You aren't. Ret pay & VA pay are for separate reasons, the bean counters back when said we were double dipping. It gives me $265 back from the $654 deducted from my USMC retirement (for the 20% combat related Agent Orange). I just had 10 more percent added so that will make it about $350 back soon. It took me a while to realize that Agent Orange was a combat related thing. I was a thinking no Purple Heart - no combat. Duh. Google CRSC and you'll see the things covered. Oh I didn't ask, but if you are over 50% compensable disabled you qualify for Concurrent Retirement Disabilty Pay (CRDP) that gives you your full retirement and all VA pay. But its all taxable.

You can also get early retirement if you were on special orders anytime after 2008 to present it comes of age 60 but can't exceed 10 years SFC William Farrell -

He is 100% rated already, it won't apply to him. Any disability rating of 50% or more eliminates the VA offset. He does qualify for RRPA, but remember that you can only accumulate 90 days per year and that any extra points don't carry over to the next year.
