I love studying Psychology and learning about people operate. I realize that each of us have our own strengths and weaknesses. How well do we know ourselves and our motivators. I found it fascinating that after joining the military, I had a bit of a change. Whereas I used to be an ISTP, I somehow changed to an ISFJ (with a very close "P". Has anyone else taken this test before and into their careers? If so, what changed and do you like the change? (Personally I preferred the "T" me over the "F" me. Just to humor me (and others that may be curious), would you mind sharing your type? I'm also interested to see if there is a trend amongst those senior and those junior, though I have a feeling most Warrant Officers will be an "I".<div><br></div><div>A few links to get you started. ESTP. Yes, it has gotten me into trouble before. Mostly from Soldiers thinking I am being too hard on them. I have tried honestly to work on my people skills. It has been, and will continue to be, a long road. I have been told that when it hits the fan you want an ESTP in your corner.

What is crazy is that I used to be the ISTP. For some reason, I felt more together, back then. I hated when emotion started creeping in to there. Your kind is very necessary. I really wish I was more of an "E".

Hi Blair, I just posted a question to the community about their thoughts on using this test as a tool in assisting those that will soon be transitioning.

I agree with you, it is good to know as much about ones self as possible. I had to take this test for my psychology class a couple years ago.

I recently took the test again, at the request of my therapist, and I was blown away by the results. I can't remember what I was when I took it for my psychology class, but I am still looking for it.

I am an ENFP,

I've always been an ISTJ. First time I took this in the early 90s though the numbers for the "I" were much higher. Since being in the military and being an NCO, I've been more comfortable around others as well as speaking in front of groups. Used to not really be able to do that. I'm still much of an "I" but definitely more social now.

SGT Mickles, I straddle the Guardian and Mastermind personas.  Right now, I'm in Guardian mode, as I've been pretty angry lately.

INTP, I have been since I first took this test in middle school, again twice in high school, twice in college, and once since. I think I am what I am.

"INTPs are relatively easy-going and amenable to most anything until their principles are violated, about which they may become outspoken and inflexible. They prefer to return, however, to a reserved albeit benign ambiance, not wishing to make spectacles of themselves."
INTP Profile (TypeLogic)

"The INTP is above all a thinker and his inner (private) world is a place governed by a strong sense of logical structure. Every experience is to be rigorously analysed, the task of the INTP's mind is to fit each encountered idea or experience into a larger structure defined by logic."
An INTP Profile (intp.org)

"INTPs live in the world of theoretical possibilities. They see everything in terms of how it could be improved, or what it could be turned into. They live primarily inside their own minds, having the ability to analyze difficult problems, identify patterns, and come up with logical explanations. They seek clarity in everything, and are therefore driven to build knowledge. They are the "absent-minded professors", who highly value intelligence and the ability to apply logic to theories to find solutions."
Portrait of an INTP (The Personality Page)

"The Architects' distant goal is always to rearrange the environment somehow, to shape, to construct, to devise, whether it be buildings, institutions, enterprises, or theories. They look upon the world -- natural and civil -- as little more than raw material to be reshaped according to their design..."

"INTPs contribute a logical, system-building approach to their work. They like being the architect of a plan, because of the scheming and thinking involved, far more than being the implementer of that plan. Implementation tends to be drudgery. They are content to sit back and think about what might work, given their view of the situation. INTPs may ignore standard operating procedures. The hours that they spend are not what is important to them, but rather the completion of their thought process"
INTP - The Wizard (Lifexplore)

"likes solitude, not revealing, unemotional, rule breaker, avoidant, familiar with the darkside, skeptical, acts without consulting others"
Jung Type Descriptions (INTP) (similarminds.com)

I've taken several of these over the years.  I'm generally along the lines of ISTJ.  The I is rather strong but I find the other three can depend on what environment I am currently acclimated to (work, friends etc.).  I am striving to become a more empathetic person which would change the T to become more of an F.

On a side note I have been doing SSD 1 and when I saw MBTI, I instantly read mTBI (minor traumatic brain injury).

The F is overrated. Mine also fluctuate, especially the 2nd and 4th positions. I hope that SSD 1 is treating you well. You'll be so happy when you complete it.

I have done the test several times and have always been an ISTP. I also recognize me very well in the description of an ISTP. I get bored easily and prefer to do things that others perceive as dangerous or obnoxious. I have always been doing various extreme sports and have very strong convictions. The description of an ISTP could be based on my personality. I am convinced that the Myers Briggs always true aretrue if one is honest when filling out the test.

ISTPs have a compelling drive to understand the way things work. They're good at logical analysis, and like to use it on practical concerns. They typically have strong powers of reasoning, although they're not interested in theories or concepts unless they can see a practical application. They like to take things apart and see the way they work.

ISTPs have an adventuresome spirit. They are attracted to motorcycles, airplanes, sky diving, surfing, etc. They thrive on action, and are usually fearless. ISTPs are fiercely independent, needing to have the space to make their own decisions about their next step. They do not believe in or follow rules and regulations, as this would prohibit their ability to "do their own thing". Their sense of adventure and desire for constant action makes ISTPs prone to becoming bored rather quickly.

ISTPs are loyal to their causes and beliefs, and are firm believers that people should be treated with equity and fairness. Although they do not respect the rules of the "System", they follow their own rules and guidelines for behavior faithfully. They will not take part in something which violates their personal laws. ISTPs are extremely loyal and faithful to their "brothers".
