Please click on these tiny sample of posters used during WWII. The Greatest Generation. Our nation owes them everything. Times change and so must we, but was our Greatest Generation wrong? Was our nation just unconstitutional? I'm having a hard time coming up with a poster that would work for today that everyone would rally around. If "In God We Trust" is deemed offensive or unconstitutional, when does it come off almighty dollar?

The Greatest Generation was not wrong... we have become a nation divided. There used to be a common thread of morals and religion that tied the nation together. We have become a nation without a common moral compass. We lack a leader that can surpass political boundaries and is capable of reaching across the Democratic or Republican isle to unite the country as a whole again. It will probably not happen in our lifetimes. Sad to think that we lost what the Greatest generation fought so fervently to protect.

This is a great question, that I don't have a correct answer for, because it's hard to give up on what I thought was a great national theme.

Exactly, but anymore it seems harder and harder to be a middle of the road guy (or maybe the middle of the road is just getting harder to find). I cannot honestly believe that our country can go on much longer unless these things change ... it comes down to the old saying from yesteryear about "a house divided ..."

SFC Mark Merino you just stumbled into the minefield that defines a lot of the problems that are being talked about here.

A homophobe, a bible thumper, a redneck, a hippy, an athiest, a liberal, etc....those are all descriptions of what someone may do, but not necessarily the core definition of who they are. Who they are is Americans. Unfortunately, as time goes on, our society seems to have more and more of a tendency to create these factions within itself.

A society with factions is a divided society. Look how well that has worked for the Shiia, Sunni, Kurds, etc. in Iraq. It just doesn't. The deeper those divides grow, the weaker society as a whole becomes. Because of that, I believe that our "greatest generation" did not have it wrong. Pulling together and creating unity is creating strength as a united people.

With that being said...there also has to be a balance somewhere. Hitler also pulled together and unified a society, except he rallied that society under a not-so-noble cause and eventually brought his unified society crashing to it's knees (as well as a few other societies). A few more detracted factions might have been a real good thing in that instance.

I agree. Once upon a time we were a praying Christian nation and not under the growing power of Satan. I also believe that we were more tolerant of other beliefs, races, and ideas.

How much of this is to be the blame of Media hype? Or those in power controlling said media?

It seems really hard to come up with a slogan to unify us when we are so divided as a nation. We need a leader that will first unify America, so that we can restore America.

To the original question, I believe our "Greatest Generation" got it right, they came together, rallied and overcame significant adversity. I just wish that we would find our way back to that kind of pride in country.

I find it difficult to find fault with the Greatest Generation, only because the did help win the war against fascism.  Just saying.

You should listen to President Franklin Roosevelt's messages to the nation. He told the nation this is what I am going to do, and he did it. It is quite chilling to hear someone who had the vision he had. He cut off the oil to the Japanese and gave thousands of vehicles to the Russians and English before we entered the war.

"In God We Trust" was adopted as the official motto of the United States in 1956 .. not WW2
"Under God" as added to the Pledge in 1954 ... not WW2
Who, exactly, states "Was our nation just unconstitutional" besides you?
You want a poster to rally around people for the WW2 effort there are literally hundreds that don not have a religious overtone
