I tried searching for spam, and other such but did not see any discussion anywhere. In the last 2-3 months I have received a few messages from 'veterans' trying to sell me a product, or get me to invest in a company. I consider this to be spam.

There does not as of yet seem to be anyway to report and/or fight spam. While I believe we should provide a way for people to explore business opportunities with other service members and veterans, blindly mass sending such messages has been considered bad net etiquette, (and in some states illegal, See: Washington Anti-Spam laws)

Has anyone else had problems with this? Am I alone in wanting some form of report spam, and block sender function in our messaging system?

If a member is spamming you, please flag the user for our staff. If the person who is spamming you is doing so via direct messaging, please consider removing them from your contacts, since only those are are connected to each other can send messages.

Is it possible to update this article to show how to report individual threads as spam?

That link doesn't work. I've received two "messages" to connect with solicitations for sex. I'd like to report this person, not just block them. I don't see a flag anywhere.

the message I received came through the RP system and it is offensive. How do I report the individual as they must have an account to contact me through Rp?

Here is the updated link. We're working on removing all these spam accounts as we speak.

SGT Chris Birkinbine and SFC (Join to see) If you are receiving it via a link here on RP, on the bottom right of the post you will see three dots, click on this and select report spam. If you are receiving it via email you can report it to the RP community manager SSG Carlos Madden or any of the site Admins COL Mikel J. Burroughs SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" PV2 (Join to see) Capt Christopher Mueller CW5 Jim Steddum MSgt Michael Durkee. There are more admins but this should be enough to get you the help you need.

Thanks for the response, admittedly my original post was two years ago, so I should hope that it has already been addressed. For clarification, I was specifically talking about messages not threads, which already had the ability to be flagged as spam. Thanks again!

SGT Chris Birkinbine - I would suggest still letting one of us admins know if you get such messages. It is my understanding that as servicemembers and vets we aren't supposed to be directly contacted by civilians in here..

SGT Chris Birkinbine I saw your post this morning it came up in my thread list and when I looked at it I didn't see that anyone had responded to you about how to resolve the issue. I'm glad I saw it as I know this does occur and it's always good to ensure any issue is addressed.

I have had a few issues as well, I found one vet who was still active in the NG trying to sell used cell phones to deployed soldiers for a ridiculous price. Went to my training NCO who had more access to NGB files, found his name found his leadership and got in contact with them that way

Glad you were able to do something directly. Unfortunately for me, everyone who has contacted me has been a Veteran, and thus untouchable by any CoC actions.

Right, my advice would be to take a look at the legitimacy of what you are considering spam, and if you find it to be spam report it. either to the FCC, BBB, etc
