I officially retired 31 DEC 21. I am eligible for early retirement payments. How long before I receive my first payment?

I retired from the reserve component. I put in my orders 9 months early. I wish to hear from those who were in the Army Reserve and National Guard who were given an early retirement because of serving downrange and getting credit for that time. I did all the necessary paperwork, I went to the pre-retirement conference. My packet was uploaded by the G1. I received my orders a month ago. For those who had no problems with their file being lost, did you have a delay in receiving your first retirement payment?

It took mine 5 months, but I put an incorrect date on one of the forms and had to resubmit. From that resubmission to initial payment was just over 3 months.

Thanks, I heard horror stories from an a retired NCO who had bad customer service experience with HRC. He had to call back time and time again until he found an employee who was not rude and who cared. Thanks for the heads up! I am not poor just cynical. My last drill done in November (RST done in Canada using JKO online courses) was signed off/approved by the HHC commander *(I know him well he once worked for me) and was never paid. It was a MUTA 2 but it was the principal. Someone above the HHC Commander and my 1 star command did not want to pay me in December, 2021. LTC (Join to see) You're welcome. I had heard those too. Some of my friends waited a year for their annuity to kick in. I had only two interactions with DFAS employees. One meh, and the other was decent. The first thing you should get is a letter when your packet is recognized as eligible for early payment. You'll also get back pay from your retirement date.
