I see the issue of the VA releasing veterans records to the FBI as a serious problem.

I think the bigger story is Vets getting judged incompetent without suitable representation.

What happen to the 1971 privacy act .? That protect the things in your medical and service records to be private . Only to be released by you !
I would hate to think someone was in my records thinking I was something I am not . Just because I suffer from PTSD . I know my oars don't touch the water , but it is hard to row laying on your back.

I also believe that it to be a violation of the HIPAA; however the renewed USA Patriot Act continues to allow the FBI to search confidential medical records as part of counterterrorism investigations but provides new legal options for physicians ordered to hand over patients' records.
The bill's passage this month came after months of delays and negotiations over key provisions of the federal antiterrorism law, which some lawmakers criticized for not adequately protecting civil liberties. In the end, the bill passed by wide margins in both chambers -- 89-10 in the Senate and 280-138 in the House.
My question is why are they looking into veterans records? Are veterans being unfairly targeted as potential terrorist? I think it is likely more anti 2nd Amendment partisan politics that should quickly put in check.

I think I need a tee shirt that reads : "I am a Veteran I must be Crazy For Defending You and Your Rights and Way of Life. Don't tread on Me "

The VA in general is an issue. From wait times, to layers of gatekeepers, to the games played with compensation evaluations. It is almost like the VA is a SNL skit about the fallacies of bureaucracy.

The issue that I feel needs to be addressed PO1 (Join to see) is V A Medical care. For about 6 years now is that I have not seen an actual doctor, my PCP's have been either PA's or FNP's. Where have all of the doctors gone. I feel that the providers that I have seen are not listening to me and only want to get me in and out. If I could afford civilian medical insurance/care I would get it.
