The House funded the VA at 1.5 Billion less than the VA Secretary requested. They want us to fight in these undeclared wars then refuse to take care of us.

But, it is 3.6 Billion dollar INCREASE from previous budgets. They cannot manage what they got before. Let's see what the President does.  He has threatened to veto it.

Also, I do not think they refuse to take care of us. They (Government) are incapable of any form of efficiency to the detriment of lives.

I know several retired officers that that have to use the VA for service connected disabilities. They use the local MTF for most of their routine care, but use the VA specifically for issues connected specifically to their disabilities. I believe they they can use the VA system for other things on a limited bases--I am not sure of the rules.

PO2 William Allen Crowder , I often see retired/former officers at my local VA outpatient clinic, VA Southeast Tucson clinic.

The way I look at it is, if you're receiving compensation for a disability and/or are otherwise entitled to free VA health care, why not take advantage of their services?

Though I am retired and thus have Tricare Prime for retirees, and I do use that insurance for my wife and daughter, because of my VA category I am entitled to free health care across the board, and not just for those disabilities for which I receive compensation. I choose to use the VA for all of my health care needs as the only out of pocket expenses I have are driving to the clinic. Even that is not too bad as I luckily live less than 2 miles from the clinic.

I think that the Congress has to correct this, our country is obligated to our Veterans! Contact your Representatives and let them hear you.
