For the last 15 years or so, they've deployed about every other year or so.

The Army deployed by BCT and the Division HQ as a mission Command element. So you’ll find DIv HQs deployed with 1 organic BCT, or maybe the whole division, or the Division picked clean providing BCTs and other enablers to other Divisions. So your question, does the Division Deploy? Which part? As an entire Division?

Every single conflict since WWII 82nd has had a minimum of an element involved. Even back in 1965 Elements were deployed to the Dominican Republic. During Vietnam a Brigade was deployed. Grenada, Panama, Dessert Shield/ Storm as well as all the post 911 engagements have involved the 82nd. Training wise elements are always on the go.

LTC John Mohor A friend, CSM Terry Hill’s CIB was awarded after the 82nd’s deployment to the Dominican Republic.
He did not receive a 2nd CIB for his service in Vietnam.

CSM Charles Hayden thanks! Looks like it’s just like the current day post 911 Soldiers who get a CIB in Afghanistan but no award for Iraq or Syria. Funny how it centers around a “time frame”. I collect military memorabilia. I was at an antique store that was selling a CIB with two stars. I purchased it just to make sure no posers or wanna be wore it. It fits in my collector “frame” just fine. My Dad earned both his EIB and CIB in WWII. I have a lot of respect for my brethren Infantry Soldiers! I spent 13 months in Germany attached to A Co 4/12 Infantry as a Fire Support Officer. Thanks for your service CSM!
