My husband is in ait at FLW right now and has been injured for a couple months now and still isn’t able to pass a APFT. They want to send him to the WTRP to get him fixed and send him to his unit but he’s also heard he could take a chapter 13. He’s on the fence about whether he wants to just get out or keep going. He’s mentally exhausted from being pushed around.

Here's a couple numbers you can call and ask the 1SG or CO that actually handle the FTU and HHC at the 43rd and get the straight poop on the programs.. 573- 596- 1253 (FTU) and the HHC who will know and can direct you to the NCOIC 573- 596-7163.
The success or failure of the Soldiers depends on their motivation and also the effects of whatever injury they have sustained. My oldest son was injured during basic at Jackson and went through the program there and went on to do well at his AIT and subsequent permanent party units.

What is really odd TSgt Joe C. and SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" , is that I am just now seeing these tags for this thread. Very kookie.

SPC (Join to see) I checked with a CSM on FLW, and as I suspected it is the Fitness Training Unit (FTU) designed to help Soldiers who can't pass the APFT, or have injuries in training that they need to rehab from before than can return, or both. This is what he said: "That is just the FTU - they have two parts, the APFT failures mission and the WTRP mission for those that have some sort of training injury and just need some rehab time - they have some high tech equipment to assist, etc...

I’ll be glad to stop by the FTU and check on the Soldier if you want me to Sir. "

Would like him to go check and talk to him?

In my view, if he wants this, he needs to stay here, go there, and get better. That is the better place, as they are better equipped to deal with long term injuries and recovery. BCT and OSUT units are not.

I appreciate you looking Into this for me. He just wanted to see what he would be experiencing. I am currently deployed right now and we have limited time to speak to each other as it is. He had spoken to another soldier in the FTU program who had said they were treated like they were in basic training and he was wary of that alone. I think it will be good for him. We will find out if he’s getting sent to the FTU program here in a couple days. Again, thank you so much!

SPC (Join to see) - Hooah. The FTU is run by the Reception Battalion, so it is likely run like BCT. Thanks for your service. Tell him to hang in there. Let me him if we can help locally.

Hello, I am having the same problem. My son called and said he will be sent home with stress fractures. But I hear about the Warrior training program. Is it possible for him to get there? Unfortunatly I have no communication with him as I am overseas and he can not call him. He calles his very old grandma who is in US, so I do not have much information.
Also could you direct me whom to ask about his condition, He really wants to stay in the army and finish.
Thank you,
Natalia
