The wife and I are starting to get out on the trails a bit more and I think it may be time to upgrade our gear. I haven't been too impressed with the brick and mortar shops around town. As much as I prefer to buy some stuff, such as clothing, in person, I think I might be best off going online. Can anyone recommend any lesser known sites that have a good selection of gear/clothing at reasonable prices?

I had some great responses in this discussion which was essentially the same question. I think you'll find them helpful:

Not sure what kind of stuff you're looking to buy either. If you're going the traditional route you probably can't beat the sites listed in the link. If you're looking to go UL there's always eBay and Facebook groups where people are trying to offload good stuff at a cheaper price so they can upgrade to something newer.

REI or CABELAS. I joined REI while in Germany in 1978. They were just mail order then. When they opened A store near me 2005, I was still in their system so did not have to rejoin. I usually buy when things are on sale or visit their close out web page.
