Congress is changing the value of our retirement plan.

Congress wants a common military camouflage uniform.

Congress puts gender-neutral combat jobs into law.

Congress wants to take military punishments for sexual offenses out of commander's hands.

In your opinion, is Congress going too far with the military?

Yes. They need to poke their noses somewhere else.

I find it interesting that back in the 70's. The Senate and House was close to 80% vets. Now its around 20%. I think that this lack of service could greatly undermine the military as the newer politicians lack the frontline experience to formulate an educated opinon. Not saying they can't it just helps.

The military is responsible for most of these things being in front of congress. A common camouflage uniform is common sense, if it takes congress (The least common sense people in the United States) to get you to practice common sense than you are acting like a moron. If you look at some of the the sexual offense issues that have been shown, the military has not been handling them appropriately, so now congress is handling it. The gender neutral part is that the individual services are opening things up, and congress wants it to be fair if they do. It does not mandate that a male only MOS has to be open to women, but it does open, it states that they cannot mandate dick size (From my understanding; basically if its open to women it has to really be open to women).

I think it comes down to an old military principle of if you don't want your boss in your shit; then you need to handle your shit.

The retirement is really a Congress thing, we would not want the VA picking their own retirement funding, so the DOD should not either.
