I severed over 25 years in the Army and was in some memorable Units. Here are my top 5.
1. My first and best ever Division ever assigned to was the 3rd Armored Division from 1990-1991 in Budingen West Germany/Germany. I was amongst Vietnam Soldiers and they trained me exceptional.
2. My second choice is the 8th ID in 1991. I was stationed with the 5/3 ADA in Wackenhiem, Germany. Lots of memories at Hohnsfels and Graf.
3. I was in 7th ID from 1992-1993 at Fort Ord, California. I remember going thru 7 days of standards training before going to my permanent party unit. I wore the famous Rag-Doll Kevlar Cover. Went on 25 mile forced road marches and did PT on the Monterey beaches by Stillwell Hall on post.
4. Lastly, the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. I deployed to Afghanistan with the 2nd Armored Brigade, 1st Brigade Combat Team. I retired out of the CAV and the Army.
5. I served as a Drill Sergeant :
Becoming a DRILL SERGEANT IN DECEMBER 2005 and serving at Sandhill, Fort Benning GA; with C/2-47 IN "Charlie Rock, Panther Battalion". I owe it all to my Drill Sergeants and a lot more gratitude. Thanks for training me to fight, win and survive and what the word BATTLE BUDDY MEANS. Yea, didn't know then, but boyee did they watch my 6 and cover me while I moved (the U.S. Soldier).

No matter where else I was, no matter what else I did, I never loved a unit like HQ 3ID in Würzburg, Germany. Whether in Garrison, or deployed, we were the Rock of the Marne !!

In order, the Army itself. Noting can beat the mother of it all. The 911 service (with good call response times I might add). Then of course the MOS that everyone HATES the most, but few can actually do, and lastly The grandfather of ALL Army BDE's, 1st ID's DEVIL BDE. If you THINK, WISH, or TRY, maybe you can be ONE part of the BIG RED ONE. NO MISSION TO DIFFICULT, NO SACRIFICE TOO GREAT...DUTY FIRST Everything else is uncivilized.
