Unit history

Naval Reserve Training Center Everett was first dedicated in 1949, in a former tug boat company office building on the waterfront of Port Gardner Bay.  Following the opening of Naval Station Everett in 1995, and the closing of Seattle's Sand Point Reserve Complex, both the Reserve Center and Naval Reserve Readiness Command 22 moved to their current location adjacent to the base. The land for the new Reserve Complex was part of a land swap with the Scott Paper Company, which previously had surrounded the old reserve training facility.

The Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Training Center was "dual-hatted" in the late 1950's. With command of the center came command of a ship as well! After an illustrious history as a coastal minesweep, MSC(O)-54 Ruff was assigned as a Naval Reserve training ship and attached to the 13th Naval District. She was stationed at the U.S. Naval Reserve Training Center, Everett, and had a regular Navy nucleus crew of eight petty officers and one officer-in-charge assigned for maintenance, logistics, continuity, and instruction of the assigned reserve crews. Ruff was later decommissioned in 1969.

NOSC Everett officially moved into it's current home 01 October 1995, a month after brand-new Naval Station Everett was commissioned.  At the time, the center was home to an active duty staff of 9, and 180 Selected Reservists in 7 Reserve units.
