About
4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry has been present in Korea and part of the 2nd Infantry Division since 1965, except for a 8 year absence of 1988 to 96. 1988, 4-7 Cav designation was activated in Germany, then in 1990 deployed for Desert Shield and then Desert Storm. The unit was deactivated in 1992, then reactivated again in Korea in 1996. 2015, 4-7 Cav was deactivated along with 1st BDE.
4-7 Cav was 1 of 2 2ID units that was still present in the old Western Corridor, along with 1/506 Inf. They were at Camp Pelham (unofficially Garry Owen) from 1992 to 2004. With the Air Cav at Mobile and Stanton till they were removed from the Cav.
4-7 Cav had a 23 year presence on the DMZ, 1965 to 1988. Active in various missions; Radar Sites, Guard Posts, Recon Patrols, Ambush Patrols, and QRF! In 1991, the last American Sector on the DMZ was turned over to the ROK Army!
