Everyone is responsible for putting an end to the deep divisions in this country. But unless our elected officials lead by example, the majority of people will not take that first step. We, as Veterans and brothers and sisters in arms, need to take the lead that the politicians won’t. We need to show this nation that we will not stand by idly and let anyone destroy this country that we served, that some of us went to war for, and the rest of us were willing to. But we cannot stand by and let talk of a civil war go unanswered.

Agree. Additionally, we should call out ALL violent/divisive rhetoric, not just the examples that are "from the other side". There are plenty of examples of partisan elected officials, candidates, and supporters spewing divisive rhetoric regardless of your political ideology.

The partisan left will call out the rhetoric on the right and ignore their own (after all, THEY are the violent ones). Likewise, the partisan right will call out the rhetoric on the left and ignore their own (after all, THEY are the violent ones).

I just cannot understand how a person can speak of "civil war" when that would bring about the end of this glorious nation. We had a hard time recovering from the last one. I don't see how we survive a future one.

COL Randall C. There is a difference when elected Democrats call out publicly for violence.
