The Cycle of Life...this morning I sent out a "Happy Anniversary" email to my Daughter and her Husband of five years- today. I remember her Wedding well, because I had my hip replaced just 30 days earlier, and managed to do the "Dad/Daughter" dance with her. A modern miracle. We laughed and had a great time, as the DJ got the song she picked ...wrong. Not once, not twice, but three times. By that time both my Daughter and I were Howling. She made me laugh so hard with some of her dry comments about the DJ and his future.
Good memories.
As I was writing that email, I got another email. A Memorial Place had notified me of the Death of a friend. It was his Anniversary too. Except his was the 2nd Anniversary of his Death. And again some memories popped into my head. Him and his wife took us to the Glass Church outside LA. It is beautiful. He was a very shy man. Rarely made jokes. But when we were inside the Church I asked why would someone build a church out of glass.
He said: "So you can look up and see if He is listening."
We all roared. The joke was all that great, but coming from him, in that situation, we were bent over double.
And so the cycle of life just keeps rolling around. One looking forward, one looking back, connected only by two things, someone cared, and there was laughter.
