Old Man Statement, Day 88, 19 December 2024
Mr. Burk is so old...he's older than history itself!
A student I had two years ago came by to see me today. Her teacher had them writing thank you notes to their favorite teacher. I am honored that she wrote this note to me. Teaching certainly isn't the best paying jobs monetarily but mentally and self fulfillment that one is making a difference, there are few jobs that equal teaching. I keep all these notes students give me and every so often I l look back and it reminds me why I continue on as a teacher.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney I told my wife today maybe I should have gone into teaching right after the military. Instead, I pursued my dream of getting a degree in electronic engineering. Not sorry for my decision though. It fulfilled one of my bucket list items also with owning my own business.

~ PERFECTLY DONE.~ And An Excellent Reason For Making The Choice.
My Most Favorite Choice Was NOT "Being In Business", But The Career In
Purchasing Management, And I Wasn't Looking For It, I Just Got Lucky And FELL Into It.
Applied For A Factory Job At FMC, In Michigan ~ Failed The Physical "Spinal Scoliosis";Then Asked I Any Office Positions Were Available But The Had Only 1 ~ "Industrial Purchasing Agent Trainee" Which Required A College Degree (oops) But I Made The Decision To Have One, Better Yet, A Masters In Business Administration But With ONLY A GPA Of 3.5 ~~ In Other Words Lied My Butt Off.. They Were THRILLED & I Was AMAZED, So I Took The Position! ~Bio has a little more details~
