This is becoming more and more common for students to be cussing at teachers. I've had a couple in the past when told to put their phone away say, "You need to shut the f*ck up" and "get off my di*k." I write them up but generally little is done to them for their actions. Fortunately I haven't had too much of this, but the general behavior of a many students is a driving factor of keeping new teachers from continuing their career in the education field. My oldest daughter was thinking of being a biology teacher until she went to her first field assignment. The first day she went back to school and dropped the education minor and tole me she wasn't going to put up with the total disrespect these kids had for their teachers.

It is a real problem. And it continues into adulthood, sadly.
Common courtesies aren't common any more.
My hubby says, even with correcting them, he's hearing it all the time, and it's starting to effect his speech, at least at home. (He had broken the habit previously).

Teaching in a city is much different than teaching in rural areas. There is no freaking way that I would have pushed my kids to be teachers, besides maybe special education teachers. Parents have completely given up. Can't punish kids or they get taken away. Can't address curriculum or you get hauled off in cuffs. Schools WON'T punish kids, so society crumbles. And they wonder why there is so much violence in cities...
Let parents parent, and get the government the hell out of our lives. That will change the world, not the nonsense being done now.
