He clearly is not trying to “steal any valor”. He’s a guy who got some stuff at an army navy surplus store. I usually don’t take the time to comment on this sort of thing but this stolen valor business is stupid . It’s a free country, he can wear what he wants. Get on with your life . MAJ

"I bought this police uniform, I should be allowed to wear it." How's that logic work again?

LOL...this is NOT a federal offense!! ANYONE can purchase a uniform at the gazillion Army surplus stores right off post. He has NO patches on it, no name tape and no US Army patch. Anyone that lives near a post knows by looking at this guy he is not a soldier. His business. Who cares, last time I looked, this is AMERICA!! Home of the free! If he wants to wear a pair of ACU's, big deal. We have tons of guys wearing ALL kinds of military uniforms here around Ft Knox. Everything from the old BDU's to the new OCP's! Pick your battles, you wont win this one!

If he is attempting to get money or free benefits, then he is violating the stolen valor act.

So just let them do what they want with a uniform others have died for? Not saying anything is just insane.

It's only a crime if he says that he's a veteran to obtain benefits or money. Then it can be a felony.

Sgt John Ervin - no medals, no name tags, no skill identifer badges. This is simply clothing, no stolen valor even if he took a dime. This guy made no mention of being a former member of the Armed Forces. Much to do about Nothing.

Actually it's covered under HR 258 113 18 USC 704 & 706.It makes the wearing of a uniform with ANY Military insignia, rank, unit patches or awards a federal offense when used for the purposes of gaining ANY type of personal gain when the person is not nor had never been a member of the U.S. or anyother military period.

Those of us who have served in the military know what goes on a uniform. he takes advantage of the public's lack of knowledge to get them to give him money. He is more of a thief than one of stolen valor. Scumbag.

As like many here that have served for a bit, I usually get a little peeved at someone sporting a full uniform looking like Joe Ragbag. But if the American public and servicemen/woman/otherkins cant see that these folks in no way resemble real troops then there is a bigger problem out there. Sort of like this fellow , long hair beard, earrings no unit patches etc. Just someone that likes uniforms, I would be more worried about Snuffy rolling around in a wrinkly uniform, no headgear, hands in pocket being a dumbass than wannabees. If these folks are actually telling folks they are in the military then its a problem, otherwise FIDO. This fellow could give a rats ass that you are videoing him trying to guilt trip him into changing.

MSgt Kerry Lundy - They will most likely rescind the directive allowing troops to be off base in utilities but it won't stop civilians wearing it or wannabees posing for enrichment and pick up points. And troops walking around like rag bags do so at their own peril.

MSgt Kerry Lundy - I agree with your comment MSgt. However that won't stop the prior service types or the ones who were removed with a BCD or Dishonorable from wearing them and looking like a model troop. I've seen several who looked like a honest troop but the uniform was jacked up and that gave it away.

SGT John C. - What do you mean by the "prior service types?" Are you saying prior service guys are "jacked up?" You are prior service. So are you that "jacked up" prior service type you are referring to?

CPT Craig Mathison - :t While this is 8 months old its pretty obvious what SGT Cook meant to those who actually read what he wrote, hint BCD.
