There's a lot of information in this article. It boils down to, If You already have one of them, You won't really get any advantage by running out and buying the other. They give the .270 the nod when varmint hunting because it doesn't look like You shot a pumpkin with a cannon ball. I'm not typically looking for meat if I'm shooting varmints, I just want them dead, besides I use My .17 for that situation. I've been a .308/7.62x51 shooter since the late 80's and see no good reason to change.

Where as I read this and see “they’re all great (if you don’t have at least one of each, go buy one).”

SFC (Join to see) I saw in, almost every category, "Too close to call" and the .308 has the advantage in factory loads available. But I do have a 40+ year bias.
