When I was 18 was discharged for medical reasons. It was believed that I suffered a seizure well at basic and was diagnosed with epilepsy. I was rushed to the hospital where they did multiple tests and determined I had actually not suffered from a seizure, that it was a concussion and I was simply unconscious when they found me, but that I was fine. They told me to report to sickcall for an update later that week. So I was forced to go to sick call week after week because the drs there felt something was wrong with me. They diagnosed me with epilepsy and I was discharged. This all happend within he first 50 days of arriving at basic. sense then I have had multiple civilian drs give me different tests and all concluded I do not and never have had epilepsy. I know it will be challenging but I was wondering if it’s possible for me to re enlist. It had been 5 years sense the discharge date in October.

Something else you can do is send a letter to the Discharge Review Board of the appropriate service. With the correct documentation, they can upgrade your RE Code. I had mine changed from a RE4 to a RE1.

How can I make a correction to my military service records, or request an upgrade to my di
In order to get your military service records corrected, or your discharge upgraded, you must contact your respective service Board for Correction of Military Records or fill out and mail a DD Form

Just an update to anyone Who is in the same situation and curious, in less then one month I got a re entry waiver cleard, and was not required to get a waiver to re enlist. The army dr agreed that it does not seem That I have anything preventing me from going to basic. I signed an option 40 contract last Saturday and ship out in a few months from now. Thanks to everyone that gave me support and helped answer my questions.

Austin Rouse Yes. You will need medical documentation showing the situation no longer exists - anything that you have from military docs that might show that you did not, in fact, have a seizure, will be greatly helpful to you. You will also need a KICKASS recruiter that will not run at the first sight of difficulty. I've been going through this process for 18 years.

Thanks a lot for the response. I have wanted nothing more then to be apart of the army again. I miss marching to the Cadences, I miss the front leaning rest position, I miss all of it. Sense then I have achieved my bachelors, I am close to maxing the apft and I know everything you can know, rank structure, Land Nav soldiers creed, infinity song warrior Ethos ect.

Austin Rouse - You've got a good head start. The hard part is getting back in. Be prepared to have to get a waiver just to go to MEPS, to see if you need a waiver to get back in. It can be an ordeal, but is totally worth it!
