I'm a pog e5 usmc reservist. I'm transferring from the irr to AD army with 11x opt 40. I'm apparently supposed to drop in for the last 6 weeks of osut. I' e heard PS guys sleep in separate barracks, get cut loose after evening chow and keeps their phones? I don't care much for any extra liberties, I just want to be able to do my own extra rucking/go to gym and keep my phone to makes sure bills are taken care of. Would anyone have any insight?

I was at Fort Benning last year. That is accurate. Phone, separate room, and weekends “off”. Good luck and have fun.

Sgt (Join to see) and odds are you will see in prior service reception for a few weeks depending on when you ship and your iteration starts. Hella boring but there is a gas station and gym. Just a quick warning, I do remember some prior service marines having to day zero due to some paperwork issues. Might not apply to you but just be prepared for anything.

Everything is up to your Senior Drill Sergeant or 1SG and it all depends on what is available as far as barracks or what is on the training schedule (if you get cut loose after chow). So lets say you arrive during the peak Spring to Summer training period. Your probably going to be in the same barracks bay vs. completely removed from the trainees because space will be at a premium. They look at your records when you arrive as to last PT test of record and your last rifle qualification and then they make a decision at what point in the cycle you are inserted. I have no clue if your Marine rifle qualification or Marine PT test transfers to Army or not. If someone told you the last 6 weeks, it is a guess not a guarantee. It is based on an assessment they do of you at the reception station and what openings are available in what cycles and what they think you have qualified on recently (PT test / rifle qualification) As for the other liberties yes they will grant some or most of them as you were told. Never saw them mess with Prior Service unless of course you break their rules. Remember that a chunk of the Infantry training in the advanced phase is after chow from 10:30 to about 2-3 a.m. On those days they might cut you loose but also ask you to come back. If they train you after midnight they usually let you sleep in an extra hour or two.

In my recollection of reclasses, it was up to the DSes. They kept in the same bays as us but kept their phones and got weekend passes.
