There was proof in a memo, and unfortunately Trump could only offer, that offer had to be taken up by other officials. Why it was not is the question.

Trump did not issue any orders for the troops to be activated. He floated off-the-cuff ideas for troops to protect him. He had no intention of the defending Congress from the revolt he was stirring up.

That wasn't his job. Nancy Pelosi was running interference for the OP, and it was an OP. How many FBI and other LEOs in civilian clothes were present at the Capitol on Jan. 6? They won't say. Why won't they say? What about "checks & balances," and co-equal branches of gov't? What a joke!

MAJ Montgomery Granger , the only joke is you, a flag officer desperately trying to justify and rationalize a coup. Nancy Pelosi, even as Speaker, never had authority to direct national guard, and the only plainclothes cops in the crowd were POS traitors to their oaths, just like Trump.
