A friend of mine grandfather recently passed, he never liked to talk about his time in the military. So they know nothing about what he did or what his medals are for. He asked me if I could find out what all of his medals and everything were for. I’m only having trouble with this bird. He fought in/during WW2. Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

It's called as "ruptured duck" and is worn by troops after discharge fro WW II era. My dad and uncles all had them.

MSG Richard C Finley - every veteran is authorized a replacement set of medals. Simply send in an Sf 180 with a Copy of his discharge papers to the address on the instructions. Ask for a replacement set of medals and adjudication of his records. Many units and individuals were awarded medals after they left Service

i did that, but as my Dads records were burned in that fire back in the 70's. all i could get was a good conduct medal and the Victory medal. the rest on his rack i took from memory and my mother had an old rack that she sent me along with the Wiley the worm which wasn't the original. the expert badge is also not the original as he gave that to me and i used it the inter time i was in the service. i don't even have it in my shadow box as if i ever had to wear my uniform i would use it.

These are unit citations. Everyone wears them while assigned to the unit. If you were assigned to the unit during the action the medal was awarded it is a permanent award, you wear it wherever you are assigned. I received the Joint Meritorious Unit Award (Permanent) for Just Cause.
