My girlfriend's son leaves for Infantry OSUT next month and will graduate in May. My dilemma is: Do I wear my ASU's as a retiree, or should I just go civvies w/ jacket and awards. I'm a retired 11Z and meet height/weight standards.

I'd use the blazer with medals.... Just my preference. I know there have been several uniform changes since I've retired almost 10 years ago..... I suspect I'd get a lot of odd looks in my old uniform.

The rule is you may wear the Service uniform of the era you served if retired or a veteran. If you have greens and they fit, you are supposed to wear the US Army retired patch for the SSI. One of my Team Chiefs did that for his son's OCS Commissioning. There is a device similar to a CSIB for the ASU to indicate you are retired...so people don't jump in your shit. I wore my ASU for Veterans Day at my daughter's school where we were asked to attended. I had the US Army Retired badge on one side, 101st Abn CSIB on the other IAW 670-1.

Your solution is also correct IAW USC and regulation.

Recommend miniature medals on civilian attire.

I went to Medals of America and ordered Mini Ribbons. They are perfect for suit lapels.
