Rather than learning to speak Russian, perhaps we should learn to speak Chinese.

MAJ Byron Oyler - And no, the Chinese do not have to come here to beat us. If they take Taiwan, they will look further, probably the Philippians and beyond. Wake Island? Guam? Japan?

CPT Jack Durish - Yes, you can count on us to stand up against far-right empire-building attempts, bullies, grifters, and con men.

Any country in the world at this point that is still tying its sovereignty, security,or economic strength to the US should be considering options (as Mexico is already doing). We cannot be depended upon to honor our commitments or act in our allies' best interests.

The situation with Taiwan and China is one of the most complex in today's world. Sadly, we must defend Taiwan whether we want to or not. We just can't say we will. Yes, it's a game but diplomacy is a game (somewhat similar to "chicken with cars"). Of course, those who are ignorant of the game will use President Trump's lack of response to damn him while honoring other presidents who have responded in exactly the same manner. They are fools best ignored.
