Am I required to wear a unit patch of a unit I’m attached to?

Some back log; I’m active, my section (only 13 of us) was deployed and were attached to a NG unit, are we required to wear the NG units patch that were attached to? We tried looking up the refs but found nothing that could answer our questions. If anyone can send me a reference or point me in the right direction.

It really could go either way depending on the orders you are cut for. I deployed with a NG unit attached to an AD division. Our NG command required us to wear the NG patch and not the AD one, but could wear the AD patch (as a combat patch) after we returned. We had a AD platoon attached to our NG company, and they were not authorized to wear our patch by our S1.
A good rule of thumb is look at what your CO and 1SG are wearing. Or whomever the highest NCO/officer you have (since there is only 13 of you.) Wear what they wear.

So under the army regs you are authorized to wear both your unit patch and the one you're attached to. In your circumstance, you may be required to wear the unit patch on your left arm that you're attached to, but if your active duty unit has earned the combat patch, I don't believe you can ever be told which to wear on your right arm. However if you were attached to the unit from the beginning of the deployment your AD unit may not have earned the combat patch and you'll have to wear both.

There is an ALARACT message out on the wear of the SSI–FWTS.
ALARACT 055/2007 States as follows:
A DEPLOYED UNIT (COMPANY OR HIGHER) WILL WEAR THEIR UNIT S SSI AS THE SSI-FWTS. THIS IS TRUE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE HEADQUARTERS ELEMENT DEPLOYS, AND REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF CHANGES TO THE UNIT S ALIGNMENT OR OPERATIONAL CONTROL (OPCON) DURING THE PERIOD OF DEPLOYMENT.
7. WHEN ECHELONS BELOW COMPANY LEVEL DEPLOY, MEMBERS OF THESE UNITS WILL WEAR THE SSI OF THE LOWEST ECHELON DEPLOYED UNIT (COMPANY OR HIGHER) IN THEIR NEW DEPLOYED CHAINS OF COMMAND AS THEIR SSI-FWTS.

Yea for sure take guidance from those with sm next to their name. Not V. I haven't had to pay attention to regs for years.

So if they transfer units during deployment, they have to pick one or the other?
