6 May 1864: Lt. Gen. James Longstreet, Lee's chief subordinate commander, was wounded by friendly fire during a counterattack in the Virginia Wilderness--barely a year after "Stonewall" Jackson was lost the same way.

The accompanying illustrations depict Longstreet being wounded and Brig. Gen. Micah Jenkins being killed by fratricide during the 1864 Wilderness campaign.

Gen James Longstreet was Robert E Lees second hand in the war, and he was a very capable General.
