Did you know that John Brown led a band of Kansas abolitionists to conduct what became known as the Pottawatomie Massacre?

On this day 160 years ago, John Brown led a band of Kansas abolitionists to conduct what became known as the Pottawatomie Massacre. They killed five supporters of slavery in Franklin County in one day, in retribution for the ransacking and looting of Lawrence, Kan. three days earlier by a pro-slavery territorial government posse.
