Two disabled veterans went to the PBR surrounded by fans. Some were cheering for the riders, some were cheering for the bulls. They are one of the toughest athletes out there. A sprained toe can get you benched for weeks but you still get paid. Both sports have a high risk for head injuries and injuries to the heads chest, rib cage and limbs. They come from Brazil, Australia, the US and put it all on the line. adrenaline and testosterone fill the air. First, the riders are introduced, next we all bow our heads in prayer for the safety of the riders, the bulls, the pickup man and the safety guys who distract the bulls so riders can crawl away. It’s come a long way since I became a rodeo fan. They have safety gear and choices. To get the money, they ride for 8 seconds on a bull weighing in at a couple of tons. After the prayer, the anthem is sung and active duty and veterans are asked to rise and be acknowledged, everyone removes cover and the national anthem is sung.% The riders stand hat and hand over heart. They don’t kneel until they finish the ride in one bruised piece.
