My uncle Seid went in before the first wave on Utah Beach to blow up the landing defenses so that the landing craft could get to the beaches. I was named for him to keep the name alive in the family because he wasn't expected to survive the war. He did make it though, and we served in Viet Nam together.

I was alive, but, less than 2 years old.

We owe a lot of men for their sacrifice that day.

It was my Dad's generation. My uncle earned a purple heart that day, However, it was not awarded until he was 73.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski Great post and great article on the Invasion of Normandy. I had the chance to walk the beaches of Normandy when I was stationed in Europe - Unbelievable history. Thanks Mark
