England had so many bombs dropped on her that this was a regular event in the four years I was stationed there...we found them on both RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall.

Lt Col Charlie Brown Got My Experience with "Leftovers" from WWII on Adak for a Year. Walked thru a Mine Field, Unintentionally, Not Well Marked. Stepped on an Anti-Personnel Spike, Thankfully Punctured My Boot without Puncturing My Foot!

I had similar experiences while stationed at Ramstein between 2002 and 2005. They'd constantly block off neighborhoods in Kaiserslautern to dig up an old bomb. That was an area that wasn't even bombed often in WWII. I can't imagine other cities that were larger targets.
