MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. One of my Great-Grandfathers, Samuel F M HALLEY was born in 1847. I have always wondered if he was named after Francis Marion.
‘“‘ohio › gallia › bios › biosH.html Samuel F. M. Halley, a brother of Ross, served eighteen months in the 33d Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company F, and was wounded at the battle of Peach Tree creek”’’’’’.
Just in case, he was a Yankee. (And not a ‘Butter cup’ as some denizens of the far reaches of Southern Ohio were referred to due to the dye used to color their clothing). SFC William Farrell SGT Philip Roncari LTC Stephen C. LTC (Join to see) LTC Stephen F. Lt Col Charlie Brown

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D., the article mentioned that Marion (among others) was sometimes brutal more than once. It would have been interesting to know more about that.
