Thanks for sharing PO1 Tony Holland an Andrew J. Bacevich / TomDispatch / Op-Ed post which starts out with a false premise attributed to Bishop of Hippo St. Augustine.
Mr. Bacevich builds a strawman from the dictum of "Any war failing to yield peace is purposeless and, if purposeless, both wrong and stupid.: This is a logical statement which is potentially useful in formulating just war theory or an application of a nation weighing war as an option.
Since many wars are started by an aggressor who wants to dominate3 and/or expand power, Mr. Bacevich is using sleight of hand it would seem to advance his position :-)
