Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on March 18, 1852 businessmen Henry Wells and William G. Fargo in New York established Wells, Fargo and Company, destined to become the leading freight and banking company of the West.
The Pony Express network brought mail east and west before the telegraph outmoded that means of communication.
