LT Brad McInnis I was very disheartened when I saw this clip. LTG (R) Hertling was a prior CG of USAREUR. He has obviously sold his soul to speak nonsense that he knows is BS for his employer, CNN. I wonder if he knows how utterly stupid he sounded when he said, "I'm now going to fire on full semi-automatic."?

I'm really hoping he was about to say full auto and stopped himself to say semi auto but didn't correct himself on the "full" part. I think the gun discussion is way too full hyperbole from both sides. No hammers and knives aren't as lethal as guns, if they were Id have carried a katana in combat not an M4. Guns and cars shouldn't be compared because car deaths stem primarily from accidents and gun deaths stem primarily from intentional shootings. People need to stop saying rifles can fire automatically and talking them up like they're sooo much more powerful than a pistol. Can you engage from longer distances with more accurate fire? Yes, but one 9mm round can kill just as easily as one .223 round can and no sights and bipods or foregrips to not add to the lethality of the weapon.

SPC David Willis SGM Steve Wettstein He had plenty of time since the video was released and questions raised to make a correction. He hasn't, which speaks volumes. If we can't speak the truth, then we can never come to any agreement....

LT Brad McInnis The flinching and crying were AWESOME to watch. That guy either deserves an Oscar or an @$$ Whoopin. I lean more to the latter.

LT Brad McInnis - You would think so wouldn't you? He obviously doesn't care about The Army Values anymore. He is kinda skipping Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. Which he should have used before that clip and telling CNN that full semi-automatic was not a thing.

MSgt Stephen Council I wouldn't say ass whoopin but he definitely needs some peer pressure on his choice of words in trying to lead people to believe that full semi-automatic is a real thing.

I wouldn't believe Lieutenant General Mark Hertling used the term "fully semi-automatic" if I hadn't heard it with my own ears. I'm truly disappointed in him. The fact is and remains, the AR-15 puts rounds down range only as fast as one can pull the trigger and the weapon can cycle. It ... is ... a ... single ... shot ... rifle. One trigger pull = one round down range.

Technically, it's not a single shot rifle either. A single shot firearm is one in which you have to manually load a single round each time you fire, like a single-barrel shotgun with no internal magazine. But I get your main point and agree with it.

SSgt Christopher Brose - My bad. I was referring to the number of rounds per trigger pull ... and phrased it badly.
